Trans News Archive Project
News submission Form + More Info
This project aims to save news that is focused on transgender and/or nonbinary people3. "News" here means "any news stories1, op-ed/opinion pieces, blog posts, zines, PDFs2, social media threads1, community resources, etc. Pro and anti-trans sources are both wanted, as I am trying to build as full a history as I possibly can from this time. The desired timeframe for this project is any largely text-based (or EPUB/PDF) media from the past 20 years. However, if you have any qualifying media from earlier years: it will still be accepted.
Likewise, because of my desire to have as complete a picture of trans communities as is humanly possible: I am also seeking sources from trans people with differing worldviews. A trans person writing an opinion piece from a liberationist perspective will have a different view than another trans person writing on the same topic from an assimilationist, "pick-me" perspective. For the purposes of a historical record: I want to know what different camps think of different things. Please know, however, that the project is run by someone with more progressive, radical, liberationist views and tendencies.
If you wish to submit something to this project: please visit the online form, linked at the top of the page. This will also give you more information about how to submit a link!
Footnotes:
- 1 newspaper scans, online articles, etc. - they can have video elements, but I have very limited storage capacity. Therefore, text-based media will receive a strong preference.
- 2 can include books/EPUBs; if you've got it, I want it. Even if it's just the name of the book - I'll take it.
- 3 while I use the term "trans/nonbinary" here, I want to cast as wide a net as is possible, to capture the experiences of those who may not identify with those labels, even if by "western" definitions of trans identity, they may technically fall within those labels. Examples would include, but are not limited to: culturally/racially-specific identities (such as the Hijra or travesti), more historical/"outdated" identities (such as cross-dressers or transvestites), or specific neogender/xenogender/neurogender identities (for example: autigender, gendervoid, wolfgender, etc.)
